New workshop, new city
Nocturne has expanded into a new workshop in Manchester.
We moved to Manchester from our London workshop in the Autumn of 2016 into an old tram depot, a great industrial building. This spring we are beginning to decide how to renovate our space having worked in it for a few months to see how best we could fit our machinery and work benches in.
The workshop is open to visits by appointment.
New lamps for Design Junction 2016
Nocturne will be launching new lamps at Design Junction 2016 this September at Kings Cross.
The Ella lamp, shown here in guillotine blue is inspired by industrial workshop lamps. Ella is a desk or bedside lamp handmade from aluminium, brass and steel.
With a tall brass stem the Billie lamp, seen on the right, is a elegant lamp which can take a large cylinder shade or a single globe filament bulb, the Billie will also be available as a floor and wall lamp.
New range of colours from the workshop
Directly sourced and RAL matched against machines and tools in the workshop, our new range reflect the colourful influences of the working day.
These colours can be used with all lamps, on shades bases and frames.
Lathe Grey RAL7004 / Guilottine_Blue RAL5001 / Oil Can Red RAL3020 / Oxide Red RAL3009 / Tin Box Ochre RAL1003 / Chalkboard Black RAL9004 / French Chalk White RAL9016 / Old Steel Grey RAL7016 / Drill Press Teal RAL5020

Midcentury Modern at Dulwich College.
Nocturne is showing at Midcentury Modern this November. We will be on stand D12 in the contemporary room.
As well as bringing our collection of lamps we will also be showing our brand new table design.
'Held in the beautiful and very appropriate Christison building designed by Wates in the Sixties, this show is stuffed with all the recognisable classics of Scandinavian, American and British heroes of 20C design. It's like visiting a design museum where you can sit on the classics, talk to knowledgable people and then take the exhibits home with you. I enjoy every show immensely and would recommend this show to any lover of design.' Matthew Hilton

Makers of East London
Nocturne features in this great book showcasing some of the people making currently in east London.
Photography by Charlotte Schreiber, written by Katie Treggiden, published by Hoxton Mini Press, 2015.
336pp coffee table book, 10.7 x 8 inches, hardback, clothbound, foil embossed.
Bike builders, violin makers, ceramicists…East London is the creative hub of one of the world’s most dynamic cities and is now seeing a resurgence of craftspeople breathing life back into traditional disciplines. This book takes a tour of their studios and practices to see what it takes to be a maker in a world of mass production. Our largest and most ambitious book yet.
“Makers of East London captures the energy and spirit of a unique part of the capital. Evocative photography alongside insightful profiles of makers reveals hidden processes behind objects both everyday and exceptional.”
Annie Warburton, Crafts Council
